Distributed Power

distributed power

Distributed power generation (also known as on-site generation, decentralized energy and distributed energy) is the umbrella term for a collection of smaller scale electricity producing systems.

Distributed power is not centrally dispatched, meaning a utility is not the primary controlling entity,

Distributed Energy Resources

Distributed energy resources, such as solar panels or wind turbines, provide electricity to the localized area around the energy system, minimizing energy lost during transmission. Traditional energy production plants like coal power plants, are built substantial distances from any populated area to mitigate the plant's pollutant effects on the populous or out of necessity to be closer to the plant's power generating resource (hydroelectric), resulting in a greater loss of transmitted energy.
