Photovolatic System

photovolatic system

A Solar electric or Photovolatic (PV) system is an energy production system made up of one or more photovolatic modules, the system mountings and electrical systems designed to take in sunlight and convert it to a usable electric current.

Grid-Tied System

A PV system may be grid connected, or wired to connect to larger power grids to feed excess power produced into the grid for a profit. Grid-tied PV systems require a solar inverter to convert the DC current produced to AC current, or the excess current will not be compatable with the public grid.

Stand Alone System

The PV system may also be a stand alone, meaning it only provides power to the building(s) to which it was installed, requiring a special battery for storing the excess electricity.
